Healing in Process

We made it through yesterday.–in case you were wondering. I was.

And now we move on?

It’s the question of the day. Everyone deals with grief so differently. There’s been an argument between mom and daughter on what’s kept. And what do you do with the things you aren’t keeping?

Her room is being painted a happy yellow color. With a cello in the corner for mom. Her piano for my brother and for the happy sounds to come from it. An easel for her older sister and my sister when she’s in town. There’s going to be a painting made by her sister hanging with one of Jackie’s poems. The idea is to make the room peaceful and also a place for mourning.

The basement has already been remodeled.–that’s the place she was found. And so we begin to heal.

  1. After Zeke’s death, a friend of mine who lost both of her parents within 6 months of each other said that it will come in waves. I’ve found that to be true. At times when I least expect it…I’m hit with a ton of bricks. It’s okay though. The Lord knows and there’s no right way to do it. Thankfully the Lord put on me early on to not dwell on the incident or what ifs. It’s easy to get stuck and I’ve seen it with friends of mine. There are so many lifting you guys up. You are loved and cared for deeply!
