Since I’m on the subjects of the banana baby–it’s kind of a catchy name don’t you think?– I’m ready to jump into another baby topic that unsettles me this time around. Cloth Diapering.
Now don’t you go thinking that I’m afraid to cloth diaper. This mamma gets all crazy natural and such when it comes to babies.–well, besides eating processed cheese. I. love. Velveeta.–Both of my littles have lived mostly in cloth diapers from their itty bitty hood and on.

What I am scared of is the industry cloth diapering has become. I mean, there’s some wicked cool cloth diapers out there. And there’s some crazy expensive cloth diapers out there. And there’s fancy fabric cloth diapers out there. It’s become quite the booming industry since I first ordered my set of mother-ease one sizediapers.
The best thing about those mother-ease diapers? I mean, besides being relatively cheep, one size, and unbleached and awesome? They lasted through two littles. Did you read that? TWO LITTLES. That’s double the pee. Double the poo. Double the washes. And those suckers lasted through it all.
I haven’t had to think about looking into cloth diapers for over four years. Now there’s blogs upon blogs, upon online stores upon online stores, upon frilly boutiques upon organic upon undyed, upon…you get the idea. And I have get to start sifting through it all.
Because those mother-ease have seen their day. They were warriors for two littles but a third would end in a messy poopey mess sooner then later.
I attempted to make some All-In-One’s for Zuri when she was a newborn. I realized I hate sewing most of the time. And my abilities aren’t talented enough to handle elastic on an itty bitty level. It was a sad realization, but I suppose I can’t be a super hero of everything. Just birth.
I don’t even know where to start the search.
If you have an idea let me know. My biggest concern is mostly cheap. ^_^ because I am cheap.
and we can go on this journey together. It sounds fun, no? Sifting through, trying to find the best diaper in the land…admit it, it does sound like fun.

Diaperswappers! It’s where I buy almost all of my diapers. Livejournal has a great cloth diaper community where I’ve bought some stuff too.
I have a few newborn covers I can send to you. Unfortunately I got rid of most of my tiny cloth diapers.

Right now I am using newborn prefolds with Ruthie. I love them, they hold a lot of pee, I rarely have a poop blow-out and they are easy to wash and dry. They are also handy for more than just diapers (can also be used for spit-up or if you’re like me, soaking up the breastmilk spray). They are cheap too compared to other diapers. If you want I could send you mine when Ruthie outgrows them (I do want them back though). They’re great for EC’ing too, I know you want to try it!!!

Both Swaddlebees and Fuzzibuns are having clearance sales right now…lots of great diapers at better than normal prices. I ordered some super-soft trainers from Swaddlebees last week, and I kind of wish that they came in my size. Minky and velour? I’d never have traveled that route if they hadn’t been more than half off.
sweet! I will definitely check that out! ^_^
Ooooh, that sounds tempting! I love Fuzzi Bunz!

Well, I’m prob’ly worse (in the cheap department), because I used the same kind my mama used forty years ago. lol.
So I can’t point in you the direction of hyp diapers. Only functional.
I’m glad no more diapers for me, though.
Have fun!
