I may or may not have previously mentioned that we–HeBrews–got a cool opportunity to sell coffee at a little art fair. Well, not little. More like huge, especially for the Up. Well, we–HeBrews–got to sell coffee at the little fair off in the corner, as I was told, “for the non-conformist more hippie types” Obviously, we can’t escape. I guess we really just don’t fit in the mold of take-my-photo-of-an-eagle-stick-it-to-a-card-and-sell-it-for-$12. And I’m okay with that. Way more then okay.

Looking back, I loved this weekend.
I mean, I LOVED this weekend. I loved, selling coffee crazy non-stop so my feet still hurt today, and my neck is suffering from our own coined term “Barista” neck–I’m going to make my millions some way, some how, I swear it to you–(ps, Barista neck is what happens when you spend your day staring down at your port-a-filter popping out drinks. I bet you could also get barista neck doing dishes, or making bread for a day, that sort of thing. ) I loved being around so many crazy cool artists. The soap tents smelled the best. By far. And in case you were wondering, there was, in fact, a huge Barak Obama painting, selling for $2009–obviously.
Also, I came across a tent that my littles could not get enough of. Wooden toys and hoola hoops. I smiled when I saw the family who was operating the tent. There was a mamma, with dredlocked daddy. With two little dredlocks girls, who were playing violin trying to make some change on their own.Ahh the all to familar Mothering Magazine mamma. A lifestyle I’ve once dabbled in, only add some Jesus and take out the pagan. And upon observing Mamma has a little boy, not girl, named Milo with those long dreads and come to find out, mamma’s even a midwife. Neat indeed–well, minus the pagan part.
I could have easily eatten Kettle corn all weekend long. Okay, I admit it, I did eat kettle corn all weekend long. As well as roughly 3 coffee drinks daily–not addicted!
The park was the perfect set up for this kind of fair, a park on Lake Superior, off a bike path, kind of in the woods. But then again, what’s not in the woods around here? My littles loved it. They ran freely with friends from Marquette, playing in the water, playing at the playground, taking coffee orders, making us some tips. It is awesome to watch those two girls play and learn, and learn and play.

Man, if I don’t watch it I’m going to start getting all sentimental. I’m going to start crying, and telling each person thank you for all their hard work. Then you’re going to find me sniffling on my sleeve and yelling “I just love you, man, and we don’t say it enough. We don’t say it enough.”
And we all know, that I don’t love hugs, or showing my emotion, because I’m tough. supa, tough. wait, wait, the right word is br00t@l, right?
Also, included in this awesome weekend were the friends we made in a couple of searching young highschoolers. You remember highschool? Thinking your tough and have it all together, so you call yourself something like Bhuddist, but the truth is, you’re really just trying to figure out who the heck you are. That was these two. Awesome conversations came out of it…and a great load of fun as well.
So the weekend was good. We made new friends. Hung out with old ones. Made a crap load of coffee. Drank a crap load of coffee. And embraced our “hippie-ness.” High five to art fairs. Long live Barista neck.
