Mamma Moments

When it rains it pours

So I won a gift card to wal-mart.

The lovely lady who mans the blog that I won it from sent me a confirmation e-mail telling me that she would soon be announcing the win. Guess what? If your life is full of cruel Irony, as mine seems to always be, you know probably have now guessed that no, the win wasn’t announced. I never heard from her again.

Are you thinking “Where’s God now? That’s just mean!” Believe me, I was tempted to think the same thing…but guess who had already put their foot in their mouth proclaiming that even if He doesn’t provide I still won’t falter? uh yeah, that would be me. So my pride found myself facing what I previously said, stalking the geekmommy blog, waiting for some kind of confirmation…nothing.

Then I got the challege…”Will you still not falter?”  ok, ok, I get it.   I don’t need a $500 gift card to confirm what I know is true in my heart.

…But I still checked out Geekmommy on twitter.  Come to find out, her step mom-in-law just passed away.  Mmmm don’t I feel sheepish. Here I am, trying not to “falter” over Christmas money, and her family is going through a really hard time right now.

Ok, ok. now I really mean  it. I don’t need that card.

Didn’t say a word, to anyone about these thoughts. Just sat on it, knowing that my trust is totally in His hands.

This morning, a friend of ours came into the coffee shop with a letter.  Come to find out someone else–who I don’t even know, put my girls names in for Toys for Tots.  (I swear it wasn’t my idea.) So, off I head to go get these presents…and to prove this lady didn’t know me, the bags for my girls read:

Josannah Brinndl and Zuurey Brindel

uhh yeah, those aren’t my kids, but I guess I can let it slide.

I got home, and–I kid you not–30 seconds later the dog was barking because someone was at the door. It was the fed ex guy. Well, not really him, but the package he chucked at my door.--literally, not figuratively. It was just an envelope. I opened it to find……dun dun dun……..anticipation is awesome………..my GIFT CARD!

I didnt need all of this. But it sure is wonderfull.  I am greatful blubbery mess–please, don’t look at me.

Ps. maybe you can pray for Geek Mommy’s family? I’m greatful to her little blog contest–that was not a hoax, dad! img_4828

  1. Thank you Jesus for the blessings you have given the Brindle’s this Christmas! And Lord put your hand over Geekmommy’s family and comfort them in ways that only you can.

  2. Wow! You had me going there! I was all.. oh no! Poor Grace. she must be so dissapointed. But Yay! This was a great story. I am glad you got your card!!!
Uncle Ken was right.. it is the way God worked in our lives Christmas aftrer Christmas. Ya know.. when you were yet unborn my Mom got a prophecy she wrote down for me and one line was “The babe that is now in it’s mothers womb shall be blessed and wanting for nothing.” :-)
So I think you all should come up Monday (since C & I work & wont be able to pick up your sibs) and do your shopping here. We can even take care of the food stuff then.

  4. Oh my gosh I’m so sorry it caused you ANY worry!!

There has been a lot going on behind the scenes here. Last week was my step-MIL passing away on the same night that my MIL was in the hospital for para-thyroid surgery and kept overnight – and there were some other issues that I’m not even going to go into – because they are *totally* irrelevant!

I did post the confirmation today. I couldn’t figure out why I hadn’t heard back from you on the activation email – but to be honest, much fell between the cracks and I should’ve followed up sooner.

Please forgive my lack of follow-up. I did manage the important bits – getting your address, making sure they got the card out and letting you know.

The really important bit? That you and your family have a wonderful, happy, and blessed Christmas!!

    (((hug)))
